It’s been a few weeks and that’s mostly because I went to Florida for the first time in over a decade. I’ve always carried a fondness for my home state of Florida and I would give anything to live in that weather again (but if it was in Los Angeles). A lot has changed but a lot of what I love has remained, which is mostly the people and being able to wear a bathing suit every single day. In the coming weeks you’ll be able to read about my full experience there because I went for a very specific reason (if you’ve been following along.)
Since then I have watched some things I loved, drank some drinks I would love to drink again and finally found my shoes of the summer which you can all enjoy reading below.
On Sunday I gathered a group of my friends to go see the movie Friendship and I haven’t laughed that hard in an extremely long time. I also haven’t been to the Vista in LA since pre-pandemic times so it was nice to be in my old neighborhood again. Tim Robinson’s humor will always get to me, and even if he didn’t write the movie, it still resonated clearly with his line of humor.
I ordered these Alohas thinking they would be my new shoe of the summer and I was very correct. They had no breaking in curve either, they fit smoothly and I’ve already worn them enough to know that when I eventually bring them with me for my annual summer NYC trip, my plantar fasciitis will flare up (only because I need heavy insoles to combat this). But 10/10 would recommend.
The strawberry margarita at Homestate (sorry to those out of the LA jurisdiction on this one) is perfect and I cannot wait to get buzzed on it again. I love a new drink and I love summer more than anything so lfg.
While I was in Florida I did make an obligatory stop to get a Pub Sub and a carton of their chocolate chip cookies. I am happy to report the cookies did live up to still being the best choc chip cookie I’ve ever had but the Pub sub… could have been better? I feel like I am committing a crime against my family by saying this but the bread was a bit stale (which maybe I should wait till I go back to really test if the quality has gone down before I make such a bold statement). Also I used to get the chicken tender sub and since I’m vegetarian now that could play into my heartbreak over it not living up to how I remembered.
That’s it for this week! See ya Monday when I drop the next installment of my adoption story (for paid subscribers) :)
